What kinds of ferns do you like to grow in the house? Do they scent the room at all?

And, could you please advise me what kind of light and temperature they need?

Asparagus - check one out at your garden centre - nobody seems to include them but they can go outside in the summer but they are a really beautiful floaty fern and they grow quite large.
Reply:I love Boston's. Here are a few brief sites that put fern care in a nutshell. They are remarkably easy to care for. What these sites don't mention, though, is that ferns need emotional nurturing. They aren't like plants like African Violets that don't much like humans. Ferns are gentle creatures that love, and thrive upon, being cooed to and baby talked. They also like to be stroked. Keep two ferns and emotionally interact with one, cooing and stroking, while not interacting emotionally with the other. You will see in less than a week that the one without your emotional involvement is sickly compared to the other.

Reply:Australian ferns are pretty good.
Reply:Run from this idea! They are very temperamental and make a mess if conditions aren't just right for them. Like someone mentioned Asparagus Fern is probably your best bet if you do decide this is your route.
Reply:almost any ferns will grow indoors and they don't scent your rooms
Reply:Most ferns will grow indoors bearing in mind they need a lot of water and some shade they have no scent here are a few

Maiden hair fern(adiantum tenerum)

birds nest fern(asplenium nidus)

holly fern(crytomium falactum)

Boston and sword fern(nephrolepis exaltata)

squirrels foot fern(davallia trichomanoides.

Ferns grown inside will basically be the same as outside fairly low maintenance other than a little food and plenty of water. Room temp will do.

Good luck.
