What are some good houseplants for a house that does not have very bright lighting?

We have been successful with ferns and ivy, any other suggestions? Should we fertilize right away when transplanting to a new pot?

Get a Chinese Evergreen plant. Needs low light and very little care. Water once a week. Go to a nice nursury and ask them for this plant. Home Depot indoor garden dept may have it. Do not fertilize right away when you transplant to a new pot, but I would buy rooting compound which will make the root very strong and then the plant won't go into shock from being transplanted. Then after a few weeks, you can fertilize with fertilizer plugs. They are great.

There is a great house plant page with suggestions for plants and a lot of easy information that have helped me.

Hope this helps you, too!
