How would you know if your plant sample has saponins?

We are doing our research about the phytochemicals in ferns...We would use Libermann Burchard test to screen for saponins but we do not know what color change would state a positive answer

Wikipedia
Reply:Powder the plant material and soak in distilled water and shake well in test tube. If foam appears in the tube it has saponin and the foam will remain for some time above the level of water with powdered plant material
