I use the 2.5 tank to save/grow the smaller bits of java fern that come off the larger plants in my main tank. Tons of java fern in there now but there's no filter. I picked up 6 ghost shrimp at my LFS today... will they be ok in there without a filter/airstone? I don't want to put them in the main tank... they're sure to be eaten.

you could fit even up to15 ghost shrimp in a 2.5 gal tank..... and the plants will supply the air for the shrimp.... perfect set up... do not worry about a thing...

Reply:Since the ghost shrimp are so small you are OK putting six in a 2.5 gallon. Just remember to clean the tank often since their is no filter. About the air stone you don't have to have one only if you want it in their. Hope this helps.
Reply:That's the best use I've heard of for a 2.5 gallon tank! I think the shrimp will be fine in there.
