What is fern?

Ferns from an amature gardener's point of view are lush green leafy plants. They look like a large leaf with a main stem (rhizomes) with segments growing from the stem known as pinnule. They are ancient plants. They survive best in moist areas. Naturally, they love water, shade and forrests. For fern reproduction, a male has to pollinate female fern. Ferns spread and adds beauty and accents to yards, cut flowers, and bouquets. There are several varieties of ferns. Ferns prints can also be found in fossils.
