Can you have hanging baskets inside?

I just inherited two Boston ferns and some other frilly-looking fern that were in hanging baskets. I don't have a porch or anything to hang them outside so is it possible to hang them from my ceiling? How would I do that, screw a hook into the ceiling or something? I have two cats and I heard they shouldn't eat them so I can't really put them on a shelf.

Yes just be careful when you water..so you dont spill all over your floor or furniture
Reply:Yes exactly, use plant hooks, I do this with one of my plants in the bathroom. I used to have a cat that would chew the leaves, when she wanted to be a bi**h, or when she had a belly ache. They shouldn't eat them, but cats are very independent and definitely have minds of their own. You can't tell them anything, once they have their mind set to be little stinkers.
Reply:Yes you can.Ferns do beautifully inside.

Make sure when you put your ceiling hooks in that you screw them into a stud or brace in the ceiling as they can get quite heavy. You can usually tell where the studs are by tapping the ceiling or using a stud finder. When tapping you can tell if it sounds hollow or if there is a stud there as it sounds more solid.

You can get the hooks with a spring on the end of them.Check with your local hardware dept.and explain what you're doing. They can help you with this. When you screw the hook in the spring opens up inside and makes it more sturdy.

Hope this has helped by the way I've explained things.
Reply:If you have cats that could be a problem ! if you must hang them from the ceiling out of reach . They sell special hooks for the ceiling at the hardware store .
Reply:You can get decorate brackets that bolt onto the wall. Check at Home Depot or Lowe's. The staff there can help you. Keep the plants trimmed so the cats can't reach them.
