Zone 5-6. Something that is a strong grower, with "show power" would be great.

Sweet potato requires sun. Forget that.



Shade lovers include: caladium, pachysandra (which also stays green in winter in many zones), Japanese painted fern,

nandina (small shrub which also stays green or burgundy all winter - depending on cultivar), Japanese Aralia, ivy, St. John's Wort, Mahonia, Skimmia japonica, Viburnum (snowball bush), Vinca, Impatiens, Golden sage, Azalea, Lobelia, Astilbe, Daffodils, Virginia bluebell, Campanula, Ajuga, Columbine, Solomon's seal, Arum, Houttuynia or Chameleon plant, Pennywort, Taro, Black Magic, Begonias, Liriope and much more
Reply:Multiple colored evergreens. You can get some that are tinted almost yellow, dark green, blue, and even reddish, the colors will contrast lovely and will be year round "show power". Mix in different heights and shapes withyour colors and you'll be sitting pretty.
