Need a fern Identified (Piedmont NC)?

The first is a simple frond that is very deeply divided, almost looks compound. The sori are on the underside of the fronds, and all fronds are fertile.



The plant is colonial it appears



A highly distinguishing characteristic of this fern is the lower pinna grow out of plane and at an angle of hte other pinna.

Do you have a picture to post? If not, take a sample of the fern, including part of the attached rhizome to North Carolina State University, the North Carolina Botanical Garden, or your local County Extension agent. Where in the Piedmont are you? I might know someone who could help you.
