Ferns and fern allies?
Answer 1 ) -- Pteridophytes are a group of plants that is scientifically divided it to four divisions viz. a ) Psilophyta ( Very primitive pteriodophytes ) b) Lepidophyta; c ) Calamophyta and d) Pterophyta ( Most advanced group that includes ferns and fern allies .

So ferns and their allies are in Pterophyta ; and they are Pteridophytes .

But all Pteridophytes are NOT Pterophytes .

2 ) Synangium == a collection of sporangia , compound sorus .

Strobilus == Compact arrangement of sporophylls

3 ) The gametophyte and the sporophyte generation in ferns are independent
