Did tery wogan and fern cotton get paid for presenting children in need last night?
Yes terry wogan did get paid, seen it on itv earlier. Not sure about fern though. terry should be well ashamed!!
Reply:Any of the acts, the presenters, the people who do bits of talking and the people who make the little videos do it for free, out of the kindness of their own hearts. Not a single one of them gets paid.
Reply:Terry is the only one who gets paid but apparently there had been a few complaints and he has said he would do it for free this year.
Reply:None of the money raised goes towards paying presenters - it all goes to the children in need. Terry has got paid by the BBC in the past but not this year, don't know about Fern.
Reply:i think the usual doing is for the presenters to donate their fee to the charity.
Reply:This year Terry Wogan didn't get a fee. He did last year apparently, then had a lot of stick for it, so he declined it this year. (As if he doesn't earn enough money already!)

I find it hypocritical... Children in need having all these rich, celebrities and so called famous people on TV appealing to US to give our money... why don't they all give some of theirs??
Reply:A few papers have stated these presenters did not receive any fees for their time - not sure whether or not it was given to the charity.
Reply:In so far as it is in their general contract of employment with the BBC, yes, they do get paid.
Reply:Everyone who is involved with Children in Need ie presenters etc, get a expense account. If they choose to use it or not, is their discretion.
Reply:a charity shouldnt pay people who can afford to be there anyway
Reply:The teletext news stated that Terry Wogan has declined his fee for this year. If one reads between the lines, it would appear that previous years he HAS accepted the fee.

I find it disgusting that Terry was shamed into declining the fee, only after the amount of complaints about it, he should not have dreamed of taking the fee in the first place.

I think the paying public would have been less inclined to put their hands in their pockets for Children In Need if they thought that their hard earned cash went towards fees/expenses for the stars who appear.
