What is a good flower to have indoors?
I have around 150 Orchids in my place, so there is something blooming year round. Orchids are much easier to grow than most people think, anyone with a bit of a green thumb should do well.
Reply:African Violets. They come in almost every color and size. From mini violets to large standards, there are trailing varieties too. The foliage can be a light green or variegated and ruffled and almost everything in between. The flower shape goes from a single star or pansy to double or even triple blooms. They come in solid colors or with colorful fantasy blooms. One of my favorite is "Irish flirt" a semi-miniature with green and white blossoms. Or "Chantaspring" a miniature with yellow bell flowers. When you have more than one African violets you will have flowers all year round.

If you like please go to http://www.avsa.org and than look at the photographs. You'll be surprised about how many hybrids are available.

Three years ago I bought an innocent looking AV - and now I have a beautiful collection of more than 100 different hybrids.
Reply:African Violets are pretty. You can buy them with purple or pink flowers. They are usually about $4-5 at your local garden center or Walmart.

Another good one is the Cyclamen. You can get it at the same place with the flower colors ranging from white to pink to purple.
Reply:really this time of year you can do annuals indoors (petunas, begonias etc) as long as they get a good bit of sun.
Reply:i like bromeliads or orchids. also there are florist-grown varieties of hydrangea and gardenia that can be used as indoor
Reply:Well you always have your hostas, but of course they don't flower....

African violets

Sinningia

Streptocarpus or Cape primrose

Bromeliads

Aphelandra
Reply:Peruvian lily, also called alstroemeria, is a lovely flower you can grow indoors. It comes in various shades of pink and peach. For a lovely scent, jasmine has white flowers, some buds are pink, and it flowers inside. I also like shamrocks. These are easy to grow, and can be white or pink.
Reply:Go to any good nursery and buy a Cyclamen Plant. Gorgeous lipstick red flowers with beautiful green leaves. Water from the bottom and leave in indirect light. Does not like alot of heat or sun. I have one and I just love it...it continues to make flowers.
Reply:Have you ever tried a Christmas cactus? I'm terrible at keeping plants alive and mine withstood forgotten waterings and floods!
