What is the name of the weedlike trees with tearshaped leaves trimmed in rust? They grow underground on roots?

When you pull them up the roots look tubular. They pop up everywhere. They have a series of tearshaped leaves growing on each stem. The look is similar a fern , but it grows very tall and the so called bark can become very thick if not destroyed.

It also leaves a strong odor on your hand when you pull it up.

Do you have a photo? Where do these trees grow, geographically speaking? Sounds interesting.
Reply:Could be Sumac. They're a weed tree. Or maybe Black Walnut. The walnut trees have a smell.
Reply:Your description is botanically vague, a picture and locality would help greatly.
Reply:Maybe a chinese tallow?
