When is the best time of day to water my outdoor hanging ferns?

Also, do I water everyday? They are turning brown and I really want them to survive.

When is the best time of day to water my outdoor hanging ferns?
I water my ferns daily late in the evening aound dusk, so that the water will not evaporate as quickly. You could also add a handfull of ice cubes to the pots in the a.m. and let the cubes melt through out the day.
Reply:AM watering is definitely best for any outdoor plants, including the lawn. Peak watering time is between 4-8AM.

Watering done at midday just evaporates.

Evening watering encourages fungal diseases.

AM watering done at the proper time allows the plant to take up water for the day and aids in keeping it healthy.
Reply:I go with msmissy - watering late evening, which is what I've always done - water soaks through with little or no evaporation and no wet leaves to get scorched by the sun - I like the idea of the ice cubes.
Reply:usually morning watering is best
Reply:Evening or very early in the morning is the best time to water. This gives the plant time to soak up the water. Also, make sure that your fern is not getting too much direct sunlight. They usually do better in shade or part shade. Also, make sure that your pot is large enough. If the fern has been in the same pot for several years, it may be time to transplant it to a larger pot.
Reply:Your ferns may be getting too much sun and that could be why the leaves are turning brown. Ferns like shade or partial shade
