What ferns to grow in pots in shaded and often damp paved garden? SE England.?

I envisage large pots with large leafy ferns striving for the light that is above and enjoying the shade on hot days. The area is only a few square metres. What ferns will do well and look good? Any other plants I might mix with them?

Japanese painted fern blend well with the creamy yellow shades found in some hosta varieties %26amp; also blend with Foamflowers (Tiarella). You can use the painted fern in front of larger ferns %26amp; plants.
