I have some ferns which I planted out last year. How do I feed them?

A friend gave them to me and they seem to be establishing themselves fairly well. Could someone please tell me should I feed them and if so, what should I use?

You really don't need to feed them, but they are acid loving so any liquid food for ericacious (acid) plants
Reply:you don't have to feed them. if you want to, you can 'mulch ' leaves over them in the fall-but their old fronds will compost into fertilizer, just fine,too,so...

also, if you free the area surrounding them from weeds, you'll be allowing them to get all the nutrients in that area, for themselves, and give them a bit of extra leg room, to spread out in, besides.

compost dirt , or garden manure, would be the frosting, i guess.

ferns are great in cut arrangements, and really good for our air.
Reply:Any of the plant "foods" you'd buy in the supermarket/ garden centre. If they're planted into the soil; you don't need to feed them as their nutrient requirements will be available in the soil. Beautiful plant though!
Reply:Organic feeds for ferns are seaweed extract or chicken pelleted manure. Use both sparingly as ferns do not need a lot also make sure they are well mulched with composted leaves.
Reply:Miracle-Gro
Reply:WATER
