i read Where the red fern grows 10 yrs ago but i thought i'd read it again. But i also thought i would read an american Tragedy. i only have time for one more book this summer
Which book should i read. An American Tragedy or Where the Red Fern Grows?
red ferns isnt bad but a good classic is Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
Reply:Where the Red Fern Grows is an American Tragedy. That was the saddest boy-and-dog book I've read since Old Yeller. I almost cried reading it.
Reply:Hmmm - I would read Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Instead.
He has his own sense of style and humor. I have never read anyone else that come close to pulling off such a unique writing personality...
Also, he a classic novelist and widely considered one of the best American authors of the twentieth century.
Reply:I just finished "The Book of Lost Things" by John Connolly and it was wonderful.
It's like a fairy tale for adults. Totally captivating, spellbinding, wondrous.
Sort of like Pan's Labyrinth + The Lion, the Witch %26amp; the Wardrobe. It made me remember what it was to read for the sheer joy of discovery, not because there was an assigned list, or because Oprah says so.
