In the book where the red fern grows was the author mostly optimistic or pessimistic about life?

any opinions

In the book where the red fern grows was the author mostly optimistic or pessimistic about life?
The author or the narrarator? I got the impression that the young man of the story was heartbroken by the end of the book, but he came to accept it for what it was and that it closed a chapter in his life.

Personally I interpreted the red fern growing as a source of life and renewal. The death of the dogs were sad, but it gave the main character a chance to relive the memories and nurse another dog to health in order to allow it to hopefully find its family
Reply:the author was optimstic cause in the end the red fern meant everlasting love and never forgetting the dogs
Reply:THAT IS MY FAAAAAAAAAVORITE BOOK!! i think that he was optomisic
