What do you think of the book where the red fern grows?
Ah...I read that book when I was 9 years old, it brings back so many memories! %26gt;%26lt; I loved that book, it was so sad. A beautiful portrait of friendship and loyalty, despite the fact that two of the main characters were dogs. I should read it again sometime, it almost made me cry, what a beautiful story. :)

Reply:It was a book and a movie. I thought it was a bit long and a little corney--a definite Hallmark movie. It was kind of like Old Yeller, but like that movie it had it's moments.

Reply:It was my absolute favorite book for a few years as a kid... and it was the first book that made me cry, haha. I think I probably reread it two or three times.



It's one of the usual kids-with-dogs books--there are a lot like it (Shiloh springs to mind, and Old Yeller, and Because of Winn-Dixie [which is one of the few with a female protagonist instead of a male]). I always thought Where the Red Fern Grows was one of the best, though.
