Fern question, zone 7?

If ferns reproduce from spores, why is weather and frost so important? I'd like to plan some Boston Ferns and Asparagus Ferns outdoors, but we get cold in the winter. Anyone know what ferns would survive a zone 7 winter?

Fern question, zone 7?
Actually ferns will survive in cold weather. They go dormant.

Fern plants are listed below. We carry a large selection of ferns.

Zone : 7

Christmas

Cinnamon

Royal

There is also one called a Southern Wood Fern.

You can also dig up wild ferns and plant them.

Just make sure the directions and conditions are correct for any type of fern.

Reply:neither one of those will. There a tons that do though. Go to a local nursery and they can direct you to them. Some of my favs are Autumn Fern and Japanese Painted Fern. These are amazing.

Be careful, some ferns are weedy and will become a pest. Ostrich fern comes to mind.
