Is a java fern good for fry?
Maybe not quite as good as Java Moss or riccia, but it does providde some good hiding places. In my area a small to medium Fern usually goes for about $5.00

Java fern has toxions in it so watch out with babies(but i am sure it is fine, as i have java fern in with my baby guppies)



It depends on size and type of fern you get. Of cource fancy types will run you more money.



If you have alot of chainpetstores this is my break down anaylist of them.



Try looking at petco, most of them dont really care about plants, and are listed as planted or lose and the price is based on that. I bought a mother sword for 3.99. So you might be able to find some ferns there. My petco now, has alot of java ferns are 2.99 and big ones.



If you go to petsmart than they base price on plant. i beleive around me, the java fern is 3.99



Also check online. THE SECRET is look at e-bay. At first i thought i wouldnt be able to find fish stuff there, but i was surprised. Type in "live aquarium plants" and you will find all kinds at cheap prices. java moss and java ferns.
