Advice for a dying fern?

I have a fern that hangs over the kitchen sink. It receives strong light from the west. I understand that ferns like lots of water and do water it everyother day. But, it seems to be dying and browning.

What can I do to help it?

Advice for a dying fern?
Ferns don't like allot of water, they like a lot of humidity. And you need to feed them. Yours might also be root-bound and in need of a new pot. And, I think West windows are too hot for them. They like East facing sun. Ours does anyways. Try transplanting it into a bigger pot. If you are afraid to do it your self, just keep thinking, that no matter what you do, it can only help it because it's dying now. If you just can't transplant it, a local nursery will do it for you. Even if they don't normally do it, someone working there will do it for you. And in the right planting medium. You just need to buy what they use, and pay a little extra for their troubles. My Ferns were 5 ft. across, and maybe 7ft long, and needed to be split. I had never done this before and didn't want to attempt it, so a local nursery employee did it for me on his time off. I just had to buy the stuff he used. Now I have 4 ferns that are 5'x 8' long! Oh course that was a few years ago. I hope I helped you. Byeee
Reply:if it's alraedy brown, it's probably too late anyway.

Make sure you don't drown the roots next time and spay water on it every day.

it needs northerlight and neer a window is probably too cold
Reply:too hot in the kitchen

too much sun

movr it to a window with indirect sun light a bathroom is good
Reply:Stop watering it. what kind of fern is it?
Reply:You are probably watering it too much unless you live in a very dry place. Let it dry out or replace the current soil with a good potting soil. Water it once, then test the soil to see if it moist and then water it only when the soil is getting dry. What many ferns like the most is to be misted and there are some ferns that appreciate being allowed to have dry soil for a day or two. Ask the grower or read the tag for your fern to see what the suggested care for that particular one is. That's your amateur indoor houseplant grower talking, if you wait a couple of minutes many of the gardeners out there will give you great answers. Beer is good for ferns as well, at least mine stay really green when I remember to give them flat beer about once a week.
Reply:Too much water is not good for fern. High humidity is a good thing. I have a fern in my bathroom and it gets indirect sunlight, but it's doing good there. I water, perhaps, once a week. Afternooon sun from the west is too strong, I think. Perhaps, too much sun, too.
Reply:With the changing seasons and the dryer air, it may not be getting enough humidity. Try misting it daily, and only soak the potting soil when it has started to dry, maybe once every 5 days or so.. Your right ferns do like a lot of water.
