Personal opinions on the book "Where The Red Fern Grows"?

I personally love the book. What do you guys think about it?

Personal opinions on the book "Where The Red Fern Grows"?
It is (overall) a great book that teaches children about love and respect. The ending is, of course, sad; bittersweet, even, but still leaves us with that strange, enchanting feeling.

(:
Reply:Good but depressing. i've often wondered when I was a kid why so many of the stories and movies for kids had sad depressing contents. Now that I'm a little older and I've watched my daughter go through a guinea pig, hamster, 3 fish and a snake. I can see why. I think they are just trying to prepare them. But back on the subjetc I thought it was good. Another good one from the same era... "Summer of the Monkeys" I probably sound old but I'm only 26.
Reply:I love it. Right after I read the book my dog of 10 years died. (He had heartworms) and I was like in the 5th grade so yeah I prayed to God for him to put red fern around my dog's grave. And he did. I will never forget that.
Reply:yes. but it's very sad. but it's a great book for boys and it is an inspiring story for kids to learn about reality and respect.
Reply:I like it, but it's really sad!
