Why is it people love side bets here in the US?

Been to the Billiards Club of Louisville in Fern Creek, Kentucky at 5404 Bardstown Road. Can't say much for these big time players. Breezed through them. A lot of people taken side bets. Why is this and what other kinda bets are there? What is stint action?Still ain't nobody can beat me in the best of 21 racks in 8 Ball or 9. IIlinois watch out.

Why is it people love side bets here in the US?
After you leave Illinois, (if you still have any cash - no checks please) the next state west is Missouri. Missouri is called "The Show Me" state. Throw your brag around all you want but you'll have to show us here in mighty Mo.

By the way Julia and Rhonda said they're ready. In fact Suki Cooper wants a call when you're in town. We call this South Korean warrior Samurai Suki around here. She slices and dices her opponents into itty-bitty pieces.

Write it down - Cue %26amp; Cushion, Overland, St. Louis County.

Hey Johnny, I know $100 isn't much but if you want to lay off half let me know. He may not have any travelling money left after leaving Illinois and Missouri.

Reply:Side bets can sometimes determine the winner, if its setup for someone to make the side bet, and depending on what

will interest the player, he may even throw the game, as long as he makes money on the game.

It is unfortunate, but not really, that pool is about winning money, and not winning the game.

you went to some town in Kentucky, and now you think you are going to illinois, and kick some butt?.

All I can say is good luck my friend as you will need it.

Go and play In Chicago, go play some one pocket, even your games of 8 and 9, and you will gain some experience. You will say well, at least I learned some things, and everything is not lost. But yes go in there cocky, they will love You there.

I do have to tell you, a word of good advice, and that is, make sure of your surroundings, before you start opening your mouth, or start winning, and when you come back, let us Know How you did, I wish you Health and Luck.
Reply:side betting lets the nobodys and knits that hang around pool halls today get in the action. its real big around here to have more money bet on the side, than the actual game itself. The Carolina's ( thats South and North ) have a wide variety of great players i would be more than glad to give you names and address to find all the action you want down here
Reply:There is also a place called Secrets in Shreveport, LA they will welcome your money...errr competitive spirit I mean. You'll find it on Jewella Ave off I-20
Reply:Ram has a good idea ask for Scotty or Shipwreck.

Good Luck

K

ps you'll need it
Reply:Still waitin in Tx got a hundred on the side you wont show up

If you do it wont take long to get it back

Sounds odd coming from TheFLowerLady, but can a LeatherLeaf Fern grow well indoors?

I bought a sickly one on clearance ($2) and now it is huge and healthy on my front porch, in it's original 1-gallon plastic pot. Problem is, we get gale-force winds (50mph+ on a GOOD day) and they are unbelievably dry. We're scheduled for them to start this afternoon/evening. I want to bring my fern in so it doesn't dry out or blow away but need to know what it will need to remain healthy indoors. Thanx.

It will need to be in an area that gets light. Also spritz with water at least once a week with tepid water.Don't let it dry out. Also don't let leaves touch furniture etc.If you can buy a fern stand.

How do I keep birds from building nests in my hanging ferns?

The "green friendly" way is to simply check the baskets for nesting materials and remove them by hand. Eventually, the birds give up. You may also try small shiny pinwheels in the planters that move in the breeze and frighten the birds. It also looks festive. I have had this problem before, it is a nuisance.

How do I keep birds from building nests in my hanging ferns?
I happen to be a bird lover and love the fact that birds procreate. It's part of nature! I, myself, would welcome the little family of birds!

But, since you asked, I suppose you could construct some sort of scarecrow and place it in the yard, or hang an owl figure in the hanging fern, if that's possible. That would be the humane way to go.

I am sure, even before I glance, that someone on this site is going to tell you to shoot the birds. But I would not only not suggest this, but say shame on you to the inhumane people that find laughter in someone's serious question.
Reply:Spray them with 7 dust.
Reply:I was told to use moth balls. After a few waterings, they will disappear.

It worked for me.
Reply:Probably can't . If it bothers you, just keep removing nest material . I've had birds nest in hanging plants several times , %26amp; it never hurt the plant . They never stayed for more than 4-5 weeks , so is only temporary . Some birds are very particular , as to elevation of their nest . You could try changing the height of the basket. Not likely to work, but might .

TX Cowboy , "Spray it with sevin"??????

*rolls eyes in a "Lord help me." moment*

Where to start?

1) Sevin is an insecticide , so not meant for birds . - %26amp; they won't know it's toxic %26amp; get the message that they're supposed to move . ;D

2) Poisoning birds is generally not a good thing,( %26amp; won't get you points for good advice )

3) The fern is probably coming back into the house when summer's over . Sevin probably never going to make anybody's list of "Household Items You Can't Live Without "

4) The white dust all over it, might detract from the fern's ornamental value ..... Maybe.

5) Sevin isn't the cure-all, be-all-end-all , alpha %26amp; omega, solver of all the world's problems . (That several people I know think it is ;D) Just use it for it's intended purposes.(as labeled)

Is it just me or is Fern Britton intensely annoying?
She's nice. It's just the ads that are incredibly annoying.
Reply:Shes not the worst
Reply:to quote another pointless person " who is she"
Reply:no she's alright. Was going to agree but thought you meant Fearne Cotton
Reply:I'd say you were in the minority with this one.

I think she's a lovely woman, great presenter, funny, sends herself up %26amp; can laugh for England.

There's nothing wrong with her.
Reply:she's ok... i just h8 hr adverts gawd they r annoyin
Reply:You forget that it's not just us Brits who use this site. Mind you, the Yanks mention lots of celbrities that we haven't got a clue about. But I digress. She is a bit annoying but....I would.
Reply:She's famous for being fat. She does ads about being fat. Her husband is a chef who keeps her fat and all she does on This Morning is stuff her face every chance she gets.
Reply:No its not just you, her and that grey haired nob that she presents with, doesn't even know what professional means let alone be it. With the exception of Paul O'Grady shes the worst presenter on tv.
Reply:you can say that about EVERY celebrity except Kelly Brook, Noddy Holder or even Lemmy, at least those three never have their face plastered all over a magazine!
Reply:Nah, I like her.

If she stood beside me it would make me appear slim.
Reply:i actually think shes lovely
Reply:She is harmless I suppose but you wouldn't want to be in a room with her for longer than 10 minutes.
Reply:I think she is great - when she is on This Morning with Philip Schofield they crack me up when they get started - anyone that can makes me laugh like that gets a big thumbs up from me
Reply:The question below this on the list reads thus; 'How does it feel like to be sedated'. Snap!
Reply:No Way - I absolutly love her, although I admit, she can seem to talk down to people!
