Similarity: Both ferns and mushrooms reproduce sexually by means of spores (as opposed to seeds).



Difference: Ferns are photosynthetic and are therefore primary producers. Mushrooms are not photosynthetic, and feed on organic compounds that have been produced by other organisms.
